Parasol Label Group Presents:
Available Tuesday 8/10! The new album from Champaign,
IL's, Elsinore, channeling the work of modern-day
masters Ben Gibbard and Sufjan Stevens. The band,
led by songwriter Ryan
Groff, has crafted a batch of vivacious yet personal
popsongs that joyfully soundtrack the simplistic bliss
of life in the Midwest. This is feel good music but
Yes Yes Yes isn't just optimistic; these
are stories of self-examination, sacrifice, compromise,
and lessons learned, all leading to the avoidance
of a quarter-life crisis.. Visit the Yes
Yes Yes release page for full-album streaming
and digital download options via Bandcamp,
tour dates & more.

Unearthed Treasure: This collection
of decades-old recordings (from the 60s and early
70s) by Belleville, Illinois' Spur is all trippy and
roughshod and iconic and whatnot, with everything
from acidic garagerock to peaceful-eyed soft-pop ballads.
Think The Byrds, Moby Grape, The Grateful Dead and
even the Flying Burrito Brothers. Belleville? Illinois?
Who knew? And that's one boss sleeve, ain't it? [more

Not Long Listen: Franklin
Highly Recommended:
British poppunk reverb enthusiasts Male Bonding's
new album has been in heavy rotation here at PMO HQ.
No surprise as we're collectively fans of The Buzzcocks,
That Petrol Emotion, Eno's early albums, The Close
Lobsters and others of that lovely ilk. Male Bonding
channels the whole lot of them and does it 2010-style
with such astounding energy and panache. Short, sweet,
frantic songs, bristling with hooks and yearning;
manic pop thrills indeed. Details

Mark
Bacino - Queens English (DreamCrush)CD
$11.00 Play/Download mp3:Happy
New this week:
Mark Bacino is a NYC singer/songwriter, producer and
multi-instrumentalist. With two critically acclaimed,
power-pop obsessed album releases to his credit (1998's
Pop
Job! and 2003's The
Million Dollar Milkshake, both on Parasol),
Bacino returns to the fray with Queens English;
a self-produced album he describes as "A
melancholy love-letter to NYC & life in its outer-boroughs".
Mark gets all orchestral and showtunesy, and it's
pretty awesome. Pick up a CD copy of Queens English
from Parasol and get a free digital EP from DreamCrush!

The
Amazing - Wait For A Light... (Subliminal

CD $13.25 The Amazing - Wait For
A Light... (Subliminal Sounds)
LP $19.00 Listen:Evil Featured
Release: Dulcet Swedish psych-folk
continuum-benders The Amazing's long-awaited second
effort is a mini-album of recently unrivaled stoned
beauty. Pink Floyd and Nick Drake are valid touchstones
in this blissed-out folk-pop trip, laced with idyllic
imagery and a pastoral 70s vibe. Not so surprising
when you take into account their supergroupness: members
of Dungen, Life On Earth and Granada, with help from
Dungen frontman Gustav Ejstes. Between this and The
Amazing's highly
recommend debut you've got a soundtrack to many
a dusky summer evening. If this don't get you all
peaceful-eyed and such, we don't know what will. Jim's
#1 of the year so far. [more

Yet another awesome New Zealand band, a Wellington
7-piece (featuring members of Brunettes, Nudie Suits,
Grand Prix and Good Laika) getting all orchestral
and expansive with lush harmonies and some seriously
nifty guitar work. Between them and Surf
City the Kiwi Pop Sound is alive and well Down
Under. Eminently appealing guitar pop, sweet and catchy
like Shout Out Louds and stately and epic like Arcade
Fire and with the occasional Radiohead-esque nuance
that stirs the soul where and when you least expect
it. [more

Parasol Label Group Presents:Moon Food is the long-awaited new album from
singer/songwriter Jarid del Deo’s Unbunny and
it continues to balance hopefulness and a deft sense
of humor with dark, crushing despair. But that’s
life. And it’s what Unbunny has been singing
and strumming about over the course of fifteen years,
five full-length albums (2004's Snow
Tires and 2008's Sensory

and sundry EPs and singles. Visit the Moon

Blood Dries Darker
Behold with childlike wonder!
Woods' follow-up to Songs
of Shame takes us out to some strange, California
canyon shack, tucked back in chaparral and those damn
eucaplytus trees; in rooms full of nitrous tanks,
self-filling hookahs and shag carpet a foot deep.
At Echo Lake is a acid folk record for &
by lusciously, lysergically weird folks. Classic rock
meets sphere harmonies, The Grateful Dead meets Elephant
6, spooky and sunny in turns. Unbearably good. [more

Dum Girls - I Will Be (Sub Pop)

La La
New this week:
Dum Dum Girls' debut full-length is, unsurprisingly,
a Spectorian-pop marvel (no, Mr. Blank Dog isn't on
board but they managed just fine without him thank
you very much) and it finds Dee Dee aided & abetted
by ex-Vivian Girl Frankie Rose along with producer
Richard Gottehrer (Go-Go's and Blondie; hell the dude
co-wrote "My Boyfriend's Back" in the 60s).
Don't worry it's still gritty and lofi, but the harmonies
stay golden and the songs are sensual and serrated
as all get out. Pitchfork: "Terrifically
fun and occasionally ferocious...a blistering half-hour
of menacing, witty bubblegum pop."
