"In a time when studio releases from Lloyd’s contemporaries sound over-produced, and contrived, it’s nice to hear some good old fashioned rock n’ roll." [Impose Magazine]

Ex-Television and Rocket from the Tombs guitarist and frequent Matthew Sweet collaborator RICHARD LLOYD will have his new album, The Jaime Neverts Story, released by Parasol Records on September 1st, 2009. The Jamie Neverts Story is Richard’s long-awaited collection of Jimi Hendrix covers recorded in early 2008. As much a homage to Jimi as it is to Lloyd's and Hendrix's mutual friend Velvert Turner (R.I.P.), the involved story behind this release touches on punches thrown, tears shed and three men whose guitar alchemy has shaped and continues to shape rock music ever since. The tale outlined in the liner notes is integral to understanding the album, although Lloyd's guitar wizardry certainly stands alone! For recording Richard was joined by bassist Keith Hartel and longtime Lloyd session drummer Chris Purdy, with a special guest appearance by Television drummer Billy Ficca. This is Lloyd's third release for Parasol and we’re astounded to be working with one of Punk’s true godfathers.

To capture the special essence of Jimi Hendrix's playing Richard had to lay down some ground rules; simply put and in his own words: "No more than three guitars on any track. No effects pedals, no fuzz box, no Octavia, no Wahwah pedal, no feedback, nothing backwards. Just Stratocaster guitars into Supro and Magnatone amplifiers."

The Jamie Neverts Story is the follow-up to Richard's 2007 studio album The Radiant Monkey released on Parasol Records. The 11 songs set forth on The Radiant Monkey represent Richard Lloyd’s first studio recordings in seven years, and at the time was his most audacious and transfixing work to date. Not surprising from an artist and rock-n-roll character/mystic/guru of his stature. The CD features artwork by Punk Magazine illustrator John Holmstrom. Prior to that , in 2006, PLG’s re-issues imprint Reaction Recordings re-released Lloyd’s 1987 album Field Of Fire in expanded form, as a DCD. It includes the original album re-mastered by Adam Schmitt. The second CD is an alternate, augmented "revisited" version of the album; the way the LP would have been presented had Richard's vision not been undercut by the studio technology of the era and the limitations of vinyl pressing. Includes 16-page full-color booklet with lyrics and extensive liner notes by Richard Lloyd himself, Reaction co-founder Ric Menck and acclaimed music scribe Bill Flanagan.
